NEW REMASTERED EDITION! (as Glitch Dreamer)
glitchdreamer.bandcamp.com/album/fanippon-2022-remaster
That's my tribute to Nintendo Famicom, the 80's, the japanese culture and all asian peoples.
The new EP "FANIPPON!" is something completely different from my tyipical stuff, because I composed two Synthpop songs for it, rather than my typical retrogaming/chiptune stuff.
"Fanippon" is a game with words who comes from Famicom, the legendary 8-bit console (the japanese equivalent of NES) from Nintendo: as you can suppose, that's a fusion between the words Fan and Nippon.
Practically, this word describes a fan of everything that's japanese!
The girl and the console shown in the cover feature a really noisy visual effect: that's a reference to the RF audio/video output of the original Famicom.
A "clean" version of the cover is added to the digital album, as a bonus stuff.
But now, let's describe the songs!
"Famicon (Family Console)"
This song was created while I was experimenting with some synth sounds typical of the 80's: the melody was really "japanese"!
The song is instrumental but the main vocal line is performed by a synth.
Plus, during my composition process, I Imagined a video where some japanese girls dance along with of the song and, sometimes, some of them approached the screen showing a Famicom-like console.
At the bottom of the screen, there was a phone number when you have to call to get the console shipped at home: practically, a telemarketing campaign!
Don't ask me the reason for that, these were the consequences of getting a moment of creativity, I guess!
"Comin' Back To You (Again)"
That's a tribute to Tears For Fears,Spandau Ballet, Dead Or Alive, The Smiths and more...practically, everything was rad & cool in those years!
Als in the previous song, also this one is an instrumental song, but with the vocal line performed by two synths at once.
There are also some lyrics I wrote for it, but I've preferred to keep them in my closet: the only thing I can say about them is that they have a really bitter-sweet feeling, and the main argument is the 80's and childhood nostalgia, but masked as a love song, where a lover ask to his twin soul to come back together.
That's all.
Hope you like the experiment: it was a really fun experience for me.
